WITHAM GROUP NEWS

Witham Motorsport, together with Motul, are proud to sponsor Honda Civic driver Kiel Priestman in the Front Wheel Drive Drag Series.

2018 will be the 6th year of the FWD Drag Series, run over five events at Santa Pod Raceway. The series is designed to cater for all FWD drag racers no matter what body or engine they may choose. The FWD Drag Series is a full MSA sanctioned Championship, the racer who wins the championship will have battled and fought their way through five tough rounds, racing against the best European and Japanese cars the UK FWD scene has to offer.
Kiel Priestman has performed consistently over the years with some great achievements, including:
• UK’s fastest FWD car 2017
• Europe’s fastest Honda Civic 2017
• FWD Drag Series champion 2013
• FWD Drag Series runner up 2017
This year Kiel is hoping to build on last year’s success: “In 2018 we are looking to better our time on the drag strip and hold onto the UK fastest FWD drag car title. I’m also hoping to be the FWD Drag Series champion once again.”
The FWD Drag Series at Santa Pod Raceway is the ultimate test of tuned front wheel drive cars. Drivers go head to head in drag racing competition to find the nation’s top FWD racer. Racers compete for the championship as well as the individual event wins, trophies and prize money.
There is also competition in May called Doorslammers at Santa Pod, which is something very different to the FWD drag series as the rules are much more relaxed:
• No weight restrictions
• No limit on turbo size
• Wheelie bars are allowed
• Any tyre size
Kiel is looking forward to competing at the event: “The relaxed rules are going to attract a number of racers from Europe so it will be a huge event and means we can really push the car to its potential!”
Witham Motorsport supplies various Motul products to Kiel for his Honda Civic and has been impressed with the impact they’ve made: “Using Motul’s Mocool is one of the best changes we’ve made. We’ve tried other brands of coolant over the years but nothing keeps the temperature down like Mocool. Any Motul’s gear oil 75 140 race oil is by far the best in the business (and recommended by PPG Gears) I would never run another oil now.”
