Motul joins the Virtual 24H of Le Mans as official partner

While the sound of 62 of the world’s best prototypes and GTE cars and the iconic red and white colors of Motul will be missing in Le Mans this weekend (13/14th June), there will be plenty of noise in the virtual world, thanks to the 24 Hours of Le Mans Virtual.

Motul’s association with Le Mans – the most famous endurance race in the world – stretches back over 65 years and its long-standing partnership with the ACO (founders and organisers of the event) goes from strength to strength. The current generation of motorsport fans grew with a controller in their hands whilst being the heroes of virtual races taking place in their favourite games. Given the association between the 24H of Le Mans and Motul, it was only natural to also become involved as an official partner with what is fast turning out to be the e-sports event of the year!

A quick glimpse at the entry list for the 24 Hours of Le Mans Virtual might have you blinking twice – the star-filled entry list for this unique event shows that the lure of motorsport’s greatest endurance race is very real.  The aim was not to replicate the entry list for the 2020 edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, now taking place on 19/20th September, but to shine a spotlight on the world-renowned sportscar classic and to provide 24-hours of top entertainment during this period of track inactivity. It brings together top names from motorsport and the world of esports, and unlike in other esports championships, they will team together and compete in a 50-car field for 24 hours.

TDS Racing accepted the challenge in the LMP class (just two classes – LMP and GTE), and partnered up with Edge E-sports,  and as in September’s 24h of Le Mans, along with Motul created the TDS ERacing Motul Team.  The team includes former F1 driver Giedo van der Garde and sim racers from Edge E-sports who are 2019 Virtual Endurance Championship winners and current VEC points leaders. Three of the four pilots will compete from TDS Racing’s headquarters in Montpellier, with the goal of engaging as much as possible with fans and recreate the 24H of Le Mans atmosphere.

Also in the LMP class, and benefitting from Motul support,
will be Team United Autosports with current WEC points leader Filipe
Albuquerque; Cool Racing with 4-time LMP2 Le Mans winner Nicolas Lapierre;
long-time Motul partner IDEC Sport Racing and 2 Seas Motorsport. And let’s not
forget the all-female line up from the Richard Mille Racing Team which includes
Motul athlete Sophia Flörsch!

Motul Social platforms will provide exclusive behind the scenes content throughout the week and during the race weekend. The race starts at 3pm CET on Saturday 13th June and you can follow the 24 Hours of Le Mans Virtual on TV, online and on social media networks, including WEC’s and 24 Hours of Le Mans’ own channels.
